Dating
is no more a new phenomenon amongst the youths of our generation. It's a
trend that teenagers cannot wait to experience; if as a youth you don't
have a boy/girlfriend your friends will probably assume something is
wrong with you, most girls cannot wait to enter into higher institution
of learning where they'll have enough freedom to do what they like.
Well, I will
like to ask you why it's usually kept secret from biological and
spiritual parents if it's okay to date? Note that ''Nearly half of
teenage girls who have been in a relationship say they have been victims
of verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse by their boyfriends.''
Most of them are still regretting loosing their virginity the way and to
whom they did!
Most guys call it "experimenting".
I have
seen many youths argued that dating may not lead to sex (which it's not
sinful) but I insist that dating is just like 'hookups' which either in
the long or short run — involves anything from kissing to fooling
around, body romance, oral sex, phone sex and sexual intercourse. Hence,
romancing someone that you are not legally married to is it a sin?
Read Romans 6:13 'Do not let any part of your body become an instrument
of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves COMPLETELY to God, for
you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an
instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.(NLT)'
Dating itself represented a historical change. It evolved out of a
courtship ritual where young women entertained gentleman callers,
usually in the home, under the watchful eye of a 'chaperon'.
Courtship on the other hand is still been uphold by some Bible based church today.
I encourage you fellow youth to prayerfully enter into courtship when
you're ready for marriage rather than this senseless dating relationship
which has almost stolen your joy of salvation!
